ABSTRACT

Premature graying of hair is a growing concern in youth and aging people. Coloring hair with natural colorants is a time-consuming and tedious process. Remember that dyeing must take a short period without damaging hair or scalp. We formulated a novel hair color spray using amla, henna and tea extract. Aqueous extracts of amla, henna and tea were added in different concentrations in different batches to prepare granules. Results of batch B12th granules showed good flow properties, good compressibility and no effect of room temperature and sunlight on colored hair stands. These granules were resuspended into water and filtered. The filtered hair color was applied by evenly spraying on human grey hair. The color produced by B1-B11 batches faded off after the 6th washing, whereas the formulation of B13-B15 batches left sticky hair and colour faded after the 7th washing. This novel formulation is hassle-free to apply and gives a promising color to gray hair, reduces dryness of hair, and leaves shine.
