ABSTRACT
This research was designed to examine the litholytic properties of the fruit of Kigelia africana. The presence of a high concentration of phyto-molecules in the plant extract prevents the aggregation and development of crystals, comparable to the function of natural substances found in urine that inhibit crystal formation. The pharmacological assessment of K. africana was conducted using turbidity technique and dissolution percentage. Calcium oxalate was artificially synthesized and enclosed inside the SPM in both procedures. The results were statistically evaluated and show a considerable anti-urolithiasis activity (P<0.001) when compared to both the control group and the standard group (Berberis vulgaris).
