ABSTRACT

A simple and accurate absorbance correction method was developed for the estimation of telmisartan and metoprolol succinate in combined tablet dosage form. The method is based on use of absorbance correction equations for analysis of both the drugs using ethanol and hydrochloric acid (0.1N) in the ratio 1:1 as a solvent. The wavelengths used for analysis were 334 nm and 275 nm respectively, for telmisartan and metoprolol succinate. Linearity was found in the concentration range of 10 -100 µg/ mL, for both the drugs. The method was validated in accordance with the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines. The proposed method was found to be simple, accurate and sensitive for estimation of telmisartan and metoprolol succinate in combined tablet dosage form.
